SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES & POST-SECONDARY FUNDING

Post-secondary education is a wonderful investment of both time and money!  Planning for how you will manage the costs is essential!  Your costs will vary depending on your choices:  school, program, number of courses, books, equipment, and student fees are all part of calculating your costs.   Research the price of the educational program you choose, and allow extra for major and minor incidentals in your budget.  Making a budget for your education is a critical step!

Students are responsible for independently researching and applying for all scholarships, bursaries, grants, and loans.  In addition to the links and information posted below, students should remember to research funding possibilities with their chosen post-secondary institution.

Additional scholarships and bursaries that are sent to to MBS are emailed out to students by Mrs. Gonzales, Counselling Center Manager.   If you wish to receive these emails, see Mrs. Gonzales to join the list or email her at elaine.gonzales@sd23.bc.ca  .

This is a list of scholarship and bursary opportunities organized for you by MONTHLY DUE DATE.  What a great place to get started on funding your education!  As this is by no means a complete listing of all available awards and scholarships, students are advised to do independent research for further opportunities.  The information included is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of compilation.  It is based, in part, on opportunities and deadlines advertised for the previous school year.
***Because donor organizations and post-secondary institutions have the right to change their deadlines without notice, please plan ahead and research the opportunities you wish to apply for so that you don't miss a deadline.

There are provincial funding opportunities available to students from B.C. Ministry of Education scholarships.  Students can also receive financial assistance through government student loans.  Click the button for information concerning these forms of assistance and awards.

The B.C. government has created the "Provincial Tuition Waiver Program" where tuition for B.C. former youth in care will be waived for students.  Click the link to the left to see the specifics for who qualifies and how to apply.

Looking for information on how to apply to COBSS (Central Okanagan Scholarship & Bursary Society)?  It's included in Post-Secondary Preparation Session #2 coming in December 2020.
