ONLINE LEARNING
Please remember students are responsible for their own registration with an online school, as well as the ensuing coursework, contacting the online teacher for help, etc. MBSS is not an online school, and therefore does not offer these services. Students must contact the online school directly for information and/or registration.
School District No 23 Online Learning: EschoolBC
If students choose to take a course online, we recommend eschoolBC because we are all part of School District No 23, making communication and support easier. Only students registered with School District No 23 are eligible to take courses with EschoolBC.
Online Learning BC
Online Learning BC has a searchable database of online options in our province. Students can search by school, course, grade, program, etc. Students are welcome to take separate online courses at different schools. Choose thoughtfully. For all questions, please contact the online school directly.
*For those looking for a school suggestion, we have had students find success with South Central Interior Distance Education School (SCIDES).

Online Course Information:
~ Not every course is offered online.
~ Online individual courses are limited to grade 10, 11, and 12 levels only with EschoolBC. Grade 9 level individual courses are not available with EschoolBC; however, South Central Interior Distance Education School (SCIDES) does offer individual grade 9 courses through online learning.
~ Online courses are only recorded on a student transcript after the course has been completed and the online school reports the mark directly to the Ministry of Education.
~ MBS staff are happy to answer a quick question; however, MBS is not an online provider. Online courses are independent meaning students are responsible for accessing help from their online teacher &/or hiring a tutor if extra help is needed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Any grade 12 student who intends to use an online course for post-secondary entrance is strongly advised to have the course completed by Feb. 1st of their graduation year regardless of the completion date given by the online provider. This allows the mark to be processed and reported to the post-secondary institution in a timely manner. Course completion after Feb. 1st may mean that post-secondary acceptance &/or course selection may be delayed or denied depending on the institution. Students are advised to research their particular post-secondary institution(s) thoroughly to know how the institution handles online courses for both admission and for program pre-requisites.

A successful online student :
• A/B student with strong work ethic • Typically has excellent attendance • Enjoys an academic challenge • Is a self-starter, succeeds with self-paced projects • Knows how to set goals & make a plan to reach goals • Has a structured lifestyle • Is a good time manager • Has a clear working environment at home • Has a support network to help set a schedule and stick with a plan |
Learning online is challenging and success is low if students are not independently motivated to complete work from home and follow through on this commitment.
